WINDSURF
Pacasmayo is considered one of the best places in the world for windsurfing. Jason Stone said he had the best session of their life one late in El Faro.  This spot have very long waves that provide fun but also very easy riding for windsurfers from intermediate to experts.  Usually wave height is about 1.5 meters in front of the hotel and 2.0 meters in front of “the Lighthouse”. In this days, you can surf a wave for more than 300 meters and do more than 10 bottom turns in one wave. This sounds good, specially considering not too much spots in the world have side off shore conditions with this long waves. But the big days can be a lot different. When a swell comes and hits the north shore there are very very big waves as all swells break good in Pacasmayo, but the South West ones produce the longest waves and you can have a 50 bottoms turns wave riding in a 1km long wave and then…you will never forget what windsurfing is for the rest of your life. You can find waves all the year but the very big swells come in late April to mid June. Also, late August to October give good mid – big size waves while the rest of the year you can have mid size waves

About wind Pacasmayo is a light to moderate wind spot. Normally blows all the year long except February (unless is a cold summer). Usually wind blows from 12 to 20 knots. Light wind days the waves are really clean and perfect for riding them, as the wind direction is perfect for this. Stronger wind days you can also have fun jumping all the day long.
The water temperature is about 14 Celsius degrees in winter so a full 3/2 wetsuit is reccomended. During the summer temperature can rise to about 22 Celcius degrees so a short wetsuit or lycra is enough. Some people use booties because there are sharp some shells and sea urchins in some parts of the shore. Not always a mess but if you are new in this spot, better to use them in the first days.

Comparing Pacasmayo with many other spots in the World we can say is much better than Hookipa, Pozo and many of the most re-known places of the world. Waves are kind of Baja California style, but the great news is that there is absolutely no crowds. There is always waves for all people, and the beach have 3 different wave breaks so if there is some people in one…you can be sailing alone in the other one. All really good ones.
